![]() ![]() I have searched the logs to see whether xscreensaver was started and it doesn't appear in the log, which to me, means that not only was it not loaded, but also could not have failed to load either. So, it doesn't appear that xscreensaver doesn't work because Cinnamon screensaver is running, it's not even being started. It should be able to startup from the startup program manager, but doesn't. If I start xscreensaver manually, no problem, it just has to be done EVERY TIME I START. I have even tried to "Browse" for the program and use the result to feed the start up program entry. I've tried xscreensaver & which was also ignored. Just as an aside, whoever thought that combining a load of unrelated stuff together and screwing with the normal everyday usage of Mint, must be a bit. xscreensaver still doesn't load on startup. I've done this, but it hasn't made a difference. ![]() Some people have suggested disabling cinnamon screensaver, but now that's not even a standalone program, so it cannot be disabled other than by telling the Power Management settings NEVER on turning off the screen or suspending. ![]() Now type startx and bspwm in the terminal. Example to access the file: vim /home/(your user name)/.xinitrc. I have recently upgraded to 20.1 and now xscreensaver doesn't even get loaded at startup. To execute bspwm on startup, edit /home/(your user name)/.xinitrc and add. The problem is, xscreensaver ran perfectly well on cinnamon 20, added to startup programs and configured in the normal way, giving me an ever changing screensaver. I do apologise if this is a question that has been posted before, but I have only found answers that relate to releases of Cinnamon prior to 20.1. ![]()
